The department has been equipped with tools and equipment from the Chinese government through the initiative of the Kenyan government. The equipment has greatly improved the quality of training in the department. The institute has also supplemented in supplying the equipment and materials needed for training.
Although Automotive Engineering courses attract few female students, female students are encouraged to enroll in Engineering courses since they stand a high chance of getting employment faster.
